"Public Service In Democracy"

I bring to you all a special greeting from this part of the world members of @Steem4Nigeria and all you great steemians all over the platform and the world at large, thank God it's a new week and I pray as we step into it God will always go before us in everything that we do, today am here with a topic titled public service in democracy and I believe after reading this you will find it very educative.

Definition

Public Service can be defined as all public government or agencies department which are primarily concerned with the execution and implementation of public policy.
This agencies includes ministers, cooperation, commissions boards, authorities publicy, owned banks and companies. All the officer's of any rank or position falls under public servants.
Civil servant can be defined as all those public public servants that are directly or indirectly recruited by public service that's public service is the umbrella of civil service.

Reasons for the short coming problems in the public service
👉 Colonial influence: It's believe that Africa and Nigeria 🇳🇬 in particular were colonised by the British. But in 1960 Nigeria 🇳🇬 got her independence, but their legacies are still very much us, our public service system is inherited from the colonists that means we still have the product of western culture. For instance the Nigerian public service copied British civil service in class structure, that's administration class the executive high class, the electrical and sub-electrical class and the manipulative appointment, promotion and retirement are structure in line with British type.

👉 Corruption: This means dishonest or illegal behavior especially of people in authority.

👉 Inconsistency of government policies: Policy inconsistency is characterized of mostly developing countries with the out-gone administration policies. A new government comes in with with different policies just as we are seeing it here in Nigeria 🇳🇬 where some people that were in position before have been replaced recently was central bank of Nigeria 🇳🇬 governor Godwin emefiele who have just been suspended by the newly elected president in person of his excellency Ahmed bola tinubu, expect more changes very soon.

👉 Red tape and delays: This defects public service owing to the arrangement in the organization of the public service work cannot be accomplished as quickly as one expect.
