SEC15 WK1: "Life on Social Media"
INTRODUCTION
Social media is a websites and applications that allow users to create and share content with others. This includes text, images, videos, and more. Some of the most popular social media platforms today include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter now known as X, and TikTok. Social media has so many benefits, and it also has some potential risks and damages it can cause.
On one hand, social media has become a huge part of our lives and it's hard not to share our experiences with others. Sometimes it is important to share our happy moments with our followers it might interest them and it would help more people to connect with us. Then, on the other hand, there are also privacy concerns when it comes to posting our lives online. We need to be careful about what we share with the public and the potential consequences before posting anything on social media.
Personally, It's not necessary to post our lives on social media, because your followers will tag it as a show-off. Your intention might not be that you are showing off but people are already seeing it that way maybe due to jealousy, envy, or negative mindset. I know a woman on Facebook, called Angela Nwosu, who posts videos of most of the activities going on in her home in Dubai reason is because she is earning millions of dollars from her content and because that is the kind of thing her target audience wants to be seeing she post 40% of her life on social media.
Those who showcase their lives on social media are always open to trolling. There is something I know that social media doesn't forget. You can make a post today and delete it after a few minutes but some people have a screenshot of it already. Imagine posting a picture of you wearing a bikini or just a bra as a single lady, no man will marry a woman who exposes her body on social media.
In the history of social media, I have never seen a person showcase online and it ends well. Celebrities such as Genevieve Nnaji, phyno, Jim Ike, Nadia Buhari, and others have their lives off social media and it's so hard to hear or see people troll them. The likes of Blessing CEO, Nkechi Blessing, and Phyna Big Brother House are the kind of people who spend most of their lives on social media, insulting each other, with this, it's important to keep our lives off social media to avoid insults and trolls.
Whatever is published on social media is just what the person wants the public to see. It's just like someone posting happy quotes, but behind the screen, they might be battling with depression. Some borrow cars to pose with and snap to oppress social media people. Some use their friend's houses to do videos and you will begin to feel you've been left behind or you begin to feel you've been lazy all this while.
Most of them are living an imaginary life on social media with rented wigs, cars, cars, and houses. My advice is don't feel bad about anything you see on social media, they ain't real. Especially on Instagram, some of them are edited pictures from the studio, you will hear things like skin like milk with edited pictures, don't feel bad about it, you look better than many of the outside social media.
I have personally met people who are my friends on Facebook because I'm more active on Facebook in person are they nothing compared to what they should have on Facebook? The iPhone we see on Facebook is Itel in real life, the fresh skin looks like a lizard's skin in real life and so many other fake lives are showcased on social media.

I was assured that my information is safe on Steemit but I have doubts that it's not, reason because anyone can copy my stories and publish them on another platform. I used the same name on all my social media and the picture on my profile is on all my social media too, I love to keep the same profile and as such I feel I can always be traced to my story. I do not want to sugar coat my feelings, so i'm being sincere with my answer on this question.
Steemit is a platform that uses a technology called blockchain. It allows users to earn money by posting content and voting on other people's posts or staying active in all activities of the platform. Steemit is a platform that has changed many lives and still changing. Aside from Steemit, there is no other platform that gives out free money. Even content creators don't earn as much as Steemians do.
Steemit is a platform that has given so many people the opportunity to express their selves in different languages. It is a platform that has also allowed us to learn new things every day from each other's wall, also, it is a platform that has allowed us to get to interact with new people.
In conclusion.

You are right, social media has become part of our lives, but we should not be using social media for our private lives. It is best good for communication. Good luck to you.
