My Neighborhood Watch #18 ~ The Major Thing Going On In My Neighborhood.
I live in Victoria Garden City which is one of the most popular places in an island in Lagos. It is well believed that there is no neighborhood that does not have something going on in the community or area and one of the most popular or common thing happening in my area is people living a fake life.
I'm sure that Lagosians or some Nigerians must be familiar with Lekki, Victoria Island and VGC. Truly, it is an area meant for rich people because everything there is expensive and if you meet someone who is not rich there, it is likely for the person to be a worker in that area. I'm also a worker there.

It is normal to want to meet up to the standards of others which can mostly be done by working hard but so many people now fake it and they begin to live a fake life. You tend to see over ten young people living in a two bedroom flat all because they want to live on the island. That's not nice. It is even better to live in an area that is less expensive and not have spend so much and that is why people like that engage themselves in various activities like fraud, prostitution or other negative activities.
The act of living a fake life has brought or motivated some people to engage in all of those negative vices that I listed here. Also, this is why the islands in Lagos are always known for having people living a fake life. Also, that is why some girls come from the mainland to start their prostitution career and other young boys do other things just because they want to stay on the island.
At the same time, I feel that the way things are expensive there is not really needed and that is why people always want to meet up by force. That is what is presently happening in my community and on the long run, a lot of people will become affected when these young people start robbing others since they want to maintain the island life and also do other negative things.

It is funny what pride can do to someone, just as making them live falsehood in pretence, the end of pride is never a good thing. We should learn to to live a simple life and accept ourselves for who we are rather than pretend.
