Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 51: A Day Like A Thousand Years.

Hello friends, trust we are all doing great. I love the free writing style opportunity given for this contest. It allows you to explore and expand your horizon in your imagination and the contest in general.

It is likened to an act or circumstance one faces in life in which the person assumed took a longer time than necessary before the difficulty was resolved or a happy event that you wished it lasted longer than it did.

I want to relate an event that happened in the mid 2007s. It was really an ugly story and caused pains to so many of us, because close friends and family members were really affected by it.

A wedding was fixed and everyone was expecting a lovely day. In the morning hours, the time was moving so fast that the time for starting the occasion came abruptly, like it was too sudden.

We participated in the wedding event and it was truly a joyous occasion.

After the wedding which closed quite early, many of the invitees headed home to their various destinations. It was an inter-city journey, so they have to leave the venue early in other to arrive home on time.

But something terrible happened. A ghastly bus accident took place at the highway involving the buses of the invitees.

It was a terrible accident, people were crying, the joyous atmosphere suddenly turned to a sad atmosphere. It now looked as if the day was just starting after the accident. People lost their lives, families were lost, husbands lost their wives and vice versa, it was as if time literally stopped for a long time.

We had to find our way towards the scene to assist with the rescue effort of those still alive while corpses where deposited at the nearest hospital mortuary.

Many needed attention, medical and physical provisions were provided on the spot. The patients were beyond what the hospital staff could attend to.

That day seemed like a thousand years because it seemed unending. None of us had any opportunity to close our eyes through out the night till the dawn of a new day. It literally seemed as if that day took longer than any other day we had lived.

That day and all the events that surrounded it made it look as if it was a thousand years. I would not want to experience the scary part of that day ever in my life.

However, beautiful moments are to be cherished and enjoyed as if the day was a thousand years.
