My Neighborhood Watch #41 - Reporting Events Around us
Introduction |
---|
In my neighborhood recently, something really "strange" has been happening lately. It's definitely not something spooky or probably mysterious, but it's as well definitely a challenge for everyone here. It's so about the money, or more accurately, the lack of it in the state.
You see, in Nigeria, where I live, for time now there has been a shortage of cash. This very shortage has led to long queues at the ATM machines which cash are available, with people waiting for like hours just to get some money.
- And even inside the banks, they're so limiting how much you can withdraw each day, which definitely not enough for most people. 'Let me so well by telling you about my experience standing in one of those long queues, so hoping to get some cash, only to be disappointed in the end'.
The Lack of Cash in Nigeria: |
---|
So Imagine going to the ATM to withdraw some money here, only to find a long line of people ahead of you already and in an early hours of the day. Everyone is so waiting anxiously here as other stand has no cash, so hoping that the machine doesn't run out of cash before their turn which is definitely everyone's prayer on the queue.
That's the very reality for many people in Nigeria these days. And too even if you manage to get inside the bank, they'll like only let you take out a small amount each day which is so annoying. It's so so hard/tough for the "families who like need more of the cash to buy food, pay the bills, and take care of their needs" of the day.
My very Experience in the Long Queue:
One certain day, I did had to go to the ATM to withdraw some money for myself and family. I joined in and stood in line for what felt like forever here, watching as the line slowly moved forward for hours.
- But just when I was almost at the front and feeling I'll withdraw soon, the machine ran out of cash! I so couldn't believe it. I had indeed wasted all that time for nothing. It was frustrating and so much disappointing, to say the least.
Definitely this experience around me is so disappointing and hope the government looks into it soon and find a solution.
Exploring My Passion as a Fashion Designer: |
---|
But again it's not all bad news in my neighborhood here. So Despite the challenges we face daily in the country, I've indeed found joy and fulfillment in pursuing my dear passion as a fashion designer always. I so much love creating beautiful clothes, especially traditional Nigerian attire like the senators dresses and trousers which I did down here.

Each of the design is like a work of art to me, and so seeing my creations come to life brings me so much happiness and inspiration.
Conclusion
As humans Living in a neighborhood with a shortage of cash can indeed be tough, because purchase of stuff especially at the local market is insane. But it's as well important to find joy in the little things.
- For me, that very joy comes from pursuing my passion for fashion design and blogging among others that interests me. Despite the long queues and limited cash here, I'll definitely keep creating and sharing my designs and knowledge with the world. Because in the end, it's the things we love that make life worth living and admiring.
My sincere gratitude to @xkool24 for always organizing the neighborhood watch contest for one like myself to explore my experience in words.
I'm inviting @whizzbro4eva, @bossj23 and @goodybest to join me in this neighborhood saga.
