A 35 Years Old Dilapidated And Abandoned Road Recieves Attention For Construction

INTRODUCTION

Nothing gives joy than seeing good things happening around you. Seeing an aged long abandined and dilapidated road geting reconstructed, is also something that one should be happy for.

The road infrastructure is an important project that should not be left to go bad to the extent of causing people to lose their lives, businesses and properties. This is the extent to which this road being reported here, has gone.

Knowing the economic value that good road network adds to the state economy, the roads should not be allowed to go bad. Allowing the roads to go bad brings loses to not just individual businesses, large business organizations or investors, but to also the government.

The 35 Years Old Dilapidated And Abandoned Road Is Under Construction Using Cement Technology

This road under construction is at the south-eastern part of Nigeria precisely, Abia state. The road connects about five local government areas in Abia then joins rivers and akwa Ibom states respectively.

For the past 35 years, living along this road had suffered severe flooding whenever the raining season comes. Because of this, residents has fled to neighboring towns and states; and businesses done around the area collapsed.

Every year, people living around the area cry for help from both the state and the federal government to come to their rescue. The extent to the road is damaged has led to the people living around the area to be captured as severe or heavy flooding area. And so the federal government releases some funds to those that are displaced during the rainy season to reduce the effects that the flood may have on peoole.

The construction of the road took off around march 2024. Work is going on the road daily basis to ensure a speedy completion. People are now returning as there is now a sigh of relief from the pains and loses the bad road had caused them. Property owners along and around the area, are now restructuring their properties and building new ones.

Businesses are not left out to be making a return around this location. Gas and fuel stations are now to take advantage or business opportunity that the new road would bring.

To add more beauty to the road, solar powered light are also geting installed along the road to make night businesses come alive in the area.

Taking a look at the road, it is gradually becoming motorable as less heavy duty vehicles are now plying the road including people are now moving along the road unlike before. The road is about 55 kilometers as it covers four local government areas and connect to two neighbouring states as I mentioned earlier. It is expected that the road would finally be completed before the end off this year and would be commossioned by both the federal and state government.

Nearly Completed and Uncompleted Portions Of The Road

After the road must have been completed, I am sure that full life activities would begin again in this area. Transportation fares would reduce and the difficult life that people in the area has been having in terms of transport and business establishment would become a thing of the past.

By the time the road would be completed, government and even the people the would realize the economic viability of this road. Life would become more easy for people in the area.

I therefore, urge government and good spirited individuals, to put the road infrastructure as a top priority. Without good roads, businesses would not thrive not to talk of development of other sectors.
