A Distant Shot Of Ghastly Motor Accident on Abariba To Aba Route

INTRODUCTION

It is not an exaggeration to say that road accident has claimed so many lives and uncountable sustaining various degrees of injuries. Over the years, some roads were so bad that people could not walk on it. Alternative routes would be created by road users for them to get to their various destinations. With this, a journey of about 1 hour may take 2 to 3 hours with its attendant cost of transportation fare.

It is now unfortunate to note that, after several years of abandoning these roads on their bad state and they are now fixed to become motorable or passable, they are now death traps to road users! The roads when fixed, on itself doesn't cause accidents. Accidents are caused as a result of how road users make use of the roads.

The heavy downpour often associated with thick cloudy weather on this day, affected the visibility and coverage of this sad event.

Abriba to Aba road is one the roads having a new look as it is now fixed and motorable.
An accident has now occurred along the newly repaired road as bus carrying passengers including students from the abriba school of nursing, were involved in motor accident. Eye witness report has it that the vehicle was on top speed and lost brake. This led to its somersaulting and leaving many people injured. No death was recorded but many passengers were severely wounded.

To make matters worse, no vehicle ambulances or vehicle were coming to rush the victims to a nearest hospital. This left the victims continue bleeding without help. Those that were not bleeding sustained dislocations in their joints, legs or waste.

Causes Of Road Accidents

Some reasons could be attributed to road accident as it associated with human errors. Some of the conditions that could cause road accidents include:

• Bad Roads
• Over speeding
• Drinking before driving
• Dizziness or Tiredness
• Faulty Vehicle

It is unfortunate that even the drivers are fully aware their faulty vehicles, they don't conduct proper checks on their vehicles before embarking on the journey. They are also into alcohol which they know, could be dangerous when taking on their journey.

This kind situations call for strong enforcement of traffic rules so as to help prevent loss of lives on the road or accidents. It is painful to see people going through this as a result of negligence of traffic rules on the part of drivers, and then the lack of traffic rules enforcement on the part of road traffic officers.

Although there was no death recorded, the passengers who sustained injuries are going through excruciating pains.
