"You're doing yourself more harm than good, stop thinking about your critical condition, everything will be fine" said one mother to her beloved daughter. She added "worrying won't solve those problems". She's saying this to her daughter because she knows the side effects of thinking too much. This contest organized by @steem4nigeria worth it, because we'll know how to avoid over thinking or worrying.

What does it mean to worry and is it bad to do so?

To worry means thinking beyond our expectations or feeling unease about what's going to happen in the future. How I'm i going to sort my bills in school tomorrow before the lecturer arrives? Before i even leave for lecture, what I'm i going to eat? Come to think of it, I'm i going to trek from the house down to the campus? All these questions can be defined as worry.

Does worry solve problems? If yes, why? If no, why?

No worry doesn't solve problems. If worry do solve problems, the woman i talked about earlier wouldn't have told her daughter to stop worrying, instead she would've adviced or encouraged her to do so. There was once i needed some money to sort some bills, i told my parents about it and they money they could raise wasn't enough.

I was worried because it was very important and urgent, i reached out to my uncles and friends but to no avail. I was depressed and this makes me worry too much, well i thank God for life, the bills were sorted out by my aunty who came around not because of the worry. After the whole worries was over, my aunty who came around came with her weight scale because she likes coming with it anytime she wants to spend some months with us.

I don't even know what happened that day, i decided to step on the scale, to my saddest surprise my weight was reduced from 70 to 60, see the weight i loss just few weeks of thinking and worrying. This clearly shows that worry doesn't solve problems instead it affects our overall well-being.

Highlight 3 causes of worrying and 3 consequences of worrying?

Causes of worrying

  • Peer pressure

Most teenagers do worry because of what their mate archive in life. This happens mostly on social media, when they see posts with expensive outfit and gadgets, they'll feel as if they're worthless making them worry on how to get those things.

  • Our past

It's very bad to go back on our past. We have both good experience and bad experience at the pass, so one of the things that causes worrying is thinking about our past, the bad side of it. When we remember our past, we'll worry and be feeling as if we're the most bad person on earth.

  • Financial status

When there's money, life on earth will be a bit easier. Most individuals do anything to get this money because they know the good side of it. People who don't have money do worry day and night on how to make money so that they'll enjoy life.

Consequences of worrying

  • Inadequate sleep

Sleep is very crucial to our overall well-being, so thinking or worrying too much will deprive us from this. When we worry much, we'll always find it difficult to sleep at the right hour.

  • Relationship issues

Worrying can ruin our lifetime relationship. Worrying brings mood swings and any partner that keeps hearing mood swings everyday during chats or calls will automatic quit because he or she won't enjoy that relationship.

  • Mental energy

Worrying too much can lead to stress, and when we're stressed out it affects our immune system which makes it difficult for us to perform well as usual, especially during sex.

State 4 solutions to avoid worrying too much
  • Praying and reading the scriptures
  • Be with friends
  • Live a low budget life
  • Be satisfied with what you have

Remember what that woman told her daughter "You're doing yourself more harm than good". Worrying won't solve our problems, so I'll advise we stay worry-free by praying everyday, being with friends, living a low budget life and be satisfied with what we have in life. If we apply this 4 things, it'll be a great solution to avoid worrying too much.

I'll like to invite @newekemini5 @bossj23 and @angelnu to participate in this contest.

Hello @alli001, this is quite an intriguing write up. You idea of starting with a little piece about a mother and her beloved daughter was rather eye-catching.

You have broken the causes, consequences and also probably solutions to worrying. A very good work. All the best.
