Do you believe in Self evaluation at every year end? give your reasons for a Yes/No

I must say that I believe in self evaluation at the end of every year. It’s like that procedure you engage in auditing a business firm or company at the end of every business session to ensure sanity in the financial sector and all rounds.

As humans we are supposed to sit down once a while and go through what we have done and take appraisals of the areas where we did well and didn’t do well and then consider what we can do to do better next time.

I believe in evaluating myself like I said earlier. It will really help me to make my checks and balances and then strategize to do better next time in areas where I didn’t perform to the optimum.

What were the events and circumstances that taught you big lessons?

A lot of things happened to me this year to teach me a lot of big lessons but I will be sharing the key ones with us.

I had a terrible experience that left me bewildered around April this year. I was traveling late from Bori in Rivers state into portharcourt. I left Bori around past 6pm. It was already getting late and I had a check in my spirit not to embark on that journey, To postpone it till the next morning but I disobeyed my spirit and still left that night to port harcourt. I got to portharcour around 8pm and boarded a taxi. I didn’t know that the taxi I entered was a one chance taxi.

In what looked like a drama, I was robbed of my phone. When I entered the taxi, I noticed the door wasn’t closing and I was sitting at the front close to the door. The door kept opening and I would always close it while I complained to the driver who didn’t say anything. On the third occasion I complained and tried to jam the door again, the elderly man who was sitting beside me after the driver now put over his hand as if to help me close the door.

When I jammed the door, he stared shouting on top of his voice, my hand my hand. I was flabbergasted. I was frantic and started to open the door to release his hands from the jam but the door didn’t open again and the man kept shouting. I was in between panick and pity. I was telling the driver to park the car and the people at the back to come down and help open the door from outside so that the man can free his hand , they didn’t even move. Some told me to drop my phone and use my two hands to push the door. I didn’t even think , I immediately dropped my phone on the car dash board and tried using my two hands to push open the door and the door opened.

The man now shouted come down come down, I thought he was trying to come down too because of the pain he was going through. I can down from the taxi still trying to understand what was happening. The next thing I knew was that the taxi zoomed off with my phone. It was then it dawned on me that I was just robbed. It was like a movie. This people left me in the middle of no where in the night. The luck I had was that I came down with my school bag and I had some transportation fare left in my bag with which I used to continue my journey.

Another luck I had was that I had the contact of the person I was going to visit in a small jotter that I took along with me that evening. My spirit told me to take that jotter, thank God I did else I would have been stranded too because It was my first time going to that place. I had to use people’s phone to block my bank accounts that night and also call the person I was going to see for directions after the robbery.

Another experience I had was that during the middle of the year, I had a project I wanted to carry out and I did everything possible to raise the money but all to no avail. I wanted to buy a drum set and a keyboard for our campus fellowship that I was coordinating. After doing all I could to raise the money but it all failed. I became very upset and depressed. I felt the whole world was against me.

I had to stop worrying about the project and I started praying about it. I also got them to join me and pray. We kept praying about the project for months. Guess what, in November, someone gifted the fellowship a brand new drum set worth close to 250,000 naira. It was like a dream come through. I really learnt a lot from this experience.

Do you think you have really learnt from those events and happenings, if yes tell us what you learnt and how it can be useful for the year ahead.

I really learnt a lot from this experiences. The first is that I learnt not to disobey my spirit again. I’ve noticed that whenever my spirit tells me not to do a thing and I don’t do it, it will always back fire. So I listen to my spirit. I also learnt from this first experience to not travel late at night again. Late night travels sometimes brings perils. I should try as much as possible to not travel late nights.

Secondly I learnt to always pray about my projects and things that I want to accomplish and trust God to help me while doing my own part. Worrying and depression won’t get the job done instead it will even affect my health cos that period I really fell sick. So I’ve learnt not to worry but rather pray while I work.

Hope you enjoyed my blog. I invite @jovita30, @ruthjoe and @beewrites to participate in the contest.
