Nigerian coat of arms and their meanings

Hello to all Nigerian friends in the community, happy to be here and sharing my post with you all.
Today I'm writing about the National coat of arms of Nigeria and their significance.

Coat of arms

The use of coat of arms dated back to early medieval Europe. It primarily was used to establish identity of a nation during battle. Since then coat of arms have continued to evolve and now it can denote such things as family descent, alliance, adoption, property ownership, and or profession.

Each country has their own coat of arms which means different thing in the different countries. Nigeria our country also has its own coat of arms as you see below:

Nigeria, like every other country has its own coat of arms with significant meanings.

Each part has its own significance and it represents Nigeria as a country.
The Nigerian coat of arms was created and adopted in may 1960 and have been in use till today. The coat of arms consists of different images that express different meanings.

Features and representation

Below are the features of the coat of arms of Nigeria and what they represent:

Black shield and colorful wreath over the shield: This represents the fertile soil of Nigeria

White horse: Represents dignity

Red eagle: This is the part that represents the strength of the nation

White lines in the Y shape: This stands for the two main rivers of Nigeria: Benue and Niger

Costus spectabilis,National flower of Nigera: The flower is found on the ground where the shield stands in the image. It stands for the beauty of Nigeria and the nation as a whole.

Nigerian National motto: Unity and faith, Peace and progress. It is found in the line beneath the shield.
