Good evening everyone!

I know I took my time with this post until the last moment. I know I'm probably missing the real point by a hair's breadth again.

"Unusual workplaces" are what @alexmove is asking for. Okay, from the first competition in this series we know that it's more about the situations we spend at the computer. And more specifically, the time we are active on the Steem. Now I really, really don't associate this with the term "work". I consider it, even if it takes time and effort, a leisure activity, a social interaction and meanwhile also a kind of outlet or filter. And yes, the whole thing takes place on the computer. In my case, specifically on the laptop. Since I am almost constantly on the move, a stationary PC would not be practical. On the smartphone, on the other hand, I can't see a lot of things well on the small display; my eyes are not the very best...

Well, I use laptops for all kinds of things: even my actual work occasionally requires me to sit down and write quotations or invoices, to make calculations. To buy materials. To plan operations or apply for permits. Bureaucracy - and extremely unpopular bureaucracy at that. I much prefer to be outside and on the building sites. There and everywhere where I have work to do or where I travel privately, I find places where I can retreat and do these things. That, and of course being present here on the Steem.

I mentioned earlier that I don't tolerate people around me well; so these locations may be quiet and secluded, happy to be comfortable. Definitely always includes a coffee for me - strong, hot and black. Without milk and sugar. Music may be on, but it doesn't have to be ( in the past I was more obsessive, nothing worked without sound!). And then I sit there in a trailer, in a car, in a hotel room, in a garden, in a café or under a tree in a meadow.

But all this doesn't seem very unusual to me... It's actually more unusual when I'm at home and have to do some office work. Not when I am sitting at my desk. But, and here comes the exciting and at the same time relaxing part: when I sit on the roof!

Now I don't know which countries you come from and what your way of life is like there... I know countries where a large part of private domestic life takes place on roofs. I have experienced this in parts of Turkey and in Lebanon, in Croatia and probably in many other places in the world. I assure you: in Germany this is absolutely not common! Especially not in the middle of Berlin. And it is precisely this possibility that has always reconciled me with the fact that my partner lives in the big city and that I feel very uncomfortable there and would like to run away. If, yes, if it weren't for the roof garden... ;-))

I have described and illustrated it in more than enough detail in various posts here. So for today, it should suffice to say that I also like working up there - with the view over the roofs and into our little green oasis.

Guten Abend zusammen!

Ich weiß, ich habe mir bis zum letzten Moment Zeit gelassen mit diesem Post. Ich weiß, ich verfehle wahrscheinlich wieder haarscharf das eigentliche Thema.

„Ungewöhnliche Arbeitsplätze“ sind gefragt von @alexmove. Okay, aus dem ersten Wettbewerb dieser Reihe wissen wir, daß es eher um die Situationen geht, die wir am Computer verbringen. Und noch genauer, die Zeit, in der wir auf dem Steem aktiv sind. Ich bringe das nun wirklich, wirklich nicht mit der Bezeichnung „Arbeit“ zusammen. Ich halte es, auch wenn es Zeit und Aufwand erfordert, für eine Freizeitbeschäftigung, eine soziale Interaktion und mittlerweile auch für eine Art Ventil oder Filter. Und ja, das ganze findet am Computer statt. Bei mir ganz konkret am Laptop. Da ich fast ständig unterwegs bin, wäre ein stationärer PC nicht praktikabel. Am Smartphone wiederum kann ich vieles auf dem kleinen Display nicht gut erkennen; meine Augen sind nicht die allerbesten…

Nun, ich nutze Laptops für alles mögliche: auch meine eigentliche Arbeit erfordert gelegentlich, daß ich mich hinsetze und Angebote schreibe oder Rechnungen, daß ich Kalkulationen mache. Daß ich Material einkaufe. Einsätze plane oder Genehmigungen beantrage. Bürokratie – und zwar äußerst ungeliebte. Viel lieber bin ich draußen und vor Ort auf den Baustellen. Dort und überall, wo ich zu tun habe oder wo ich privat unterwegs bin, finde ich Plätze, an denen ich mich zurückziehen und diese Dinge erledigen kann. Das, und natürlich auch hier auf dem Steem präsent sein.

Ich hatte bereits erwähnt, daß ich Menschen nicht gut um mich ertragen kann; also dürfen diese Örtlichkeiten ruhig und abgelegen sein, gerne bequem. Definitiv gehört immer ein Kaffee für mich dazu – stark, heiß und schwarz. Ohne Milch und Zucker. Musik darf dabei laufen, muß aber nicht unbedingt (früher war ich da zwanghafter, ohne Beschallung ging gar nichts!). Und dann sitze ich da im Bauwagen, im Auto, im Hotelzimmer, in einem Garten, im Cafè oder unter einem Baum auf der Wiese.

Das kommt mir allerdings alles nicht arg ungewöhnlich vor… Ungewöhnlich ist es eigentlich eher, wenn ich 'mal zu Hause bin und dort Büroarbeiten ausführen muß. Nicht, wenn ich dabei am Schreibtisch sitze. Aber, und jetzt kommt der spannende und gleichzeitig entspannende Teil: wenn ich auf dem Dach sitze!

Nun weiß ich nicht, aus welchen Ländern Ihr kommt und wie dort Eure Lebensweise aussieht… Ich kenne Länder, in denen sich ein großer Teil des privaten häuslichen Lebens auf Dächern abspielt. In Teilen der Türkei habe ich das erlebt und im Libanon, in Kroatien und vermutlich an vielen anderen Orten der Welt. Ich versichere Euch: in Deutschland ist das absolut nicht üblich! Erst recht nicht mitten in Berlin. Und genau diese Möglichkeit hat mich immer damit versöhnt, daß mein Freund nun einmal in der Großstadt lebt und ich mich dort an und für sich sehr unwohl fühle und am liebsten nur weg möchte. Wenn, ja, wenn da nicht der Dachgarten wäre… ;-))

Den habe ich hier in diversen Posts mehr als ausführlich beschrieben und bebildert. Für heute soll also die Information genügen, daß ich auch sehr gerne dort oben arbeite – mit dem Blick über die Dächer und in unsere kleine grüne Oase.
