What do you know about obesity?

Obesity is one of the major health epidemics that human being struggles to deal with it. Consuming too much food and getting too little exercise are one of the main contributors to obesity. It is a medical problem, that increases the risk of other diseases and health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and certain cancers.

Have you ever experienced obesity?

I have never had an obesity disease; thus, I have no personal experience with it. However, one of my colleagues has this obesity, and she sought treatment from a doctor. The doctor recommended a diet and exercise plan for her. After following the doctor's recommended diet and exercise plan on a regular basis for a year, she was able to lose 10 kg. The patient must scarify all of her delicious food in order to get over this issue.

What are the symptoms and causes of obesity?

Symptoms

I can mention here that one of the typical symptoms is an increase in body fat, especially around the waist. Shortness of breath, sweating more than usual, snoring, trouble sleeping, skin problems from moisture accumulating in the folds, inability to perform simple physical tasks you could easily perform before the weight gain, fatigue, pain in back borne and joints, and psychological issues such as depression, shame, and social isolation are the other symptoms we can find of obesity.

Causes

One of the leading causes of obesity is the regular consumption of more than the required quantity of food combined with a lack of proper physical activity. In the last 20 years, people started complaining that fast food is the main cause of rising obesity. However, a lot of research proves that fast food is not the source of obesity. The rising obesity problem cannot be blamed on the fast-food industry; there are several other factors that lead to obesity. Obesity may even run in the family, if either of the parents has this problem then it is likely for the child to develop it. Regular intake of certain medicines such as oral contraceptives and antidepressants may also lead to weight gain and eventually result in obesity.

Even as you choose to eat healthily, keep a tab on how much you eat and also the frequency of your meals. Make it a habit to indulge in 30 – 45 minutes of exercise each day. The final one keeps a check on your body weight as well as your waistline.
