Overview of Nasi Liwet

When we think of Nasi Liwet, what comes to our mind is that this is a Sundanese food, which we usually eat with anchovies, fresh vegetables and chili sauce.

Nasi liwet is a specialty of Solo which is savory rice. It's actually similar to Nasi Uduk. Usually served with chayote, sawiran chicken, and savory porridge from coconut.

Nasi liwet is famous for its smooth texture and savory taste. The savory taste comes from the boiled rice cooked by pouring it with coconut milk.

Another uniqueness of Nasi Liwet is in the way it is served, which uses banana leaves as a wrapper and also functions as a spoon.

Residents of the city of Solo used to eat rice liwet every time, starting for breakfast, until dinner.

Nasi liwet is usually sold around in bamboo baskets by mothers who carry it every morning, or sold in stalls during the day.

Rice contains carbohydrates. So rice is a food source of carbohydrates. When it is processed into nasi liwet, there is added coconut milk, and coconut milk is a group of fatty foods. So nasi liwet, when compared to ordinary rice, nasi liwet is rice that has a very high fat content, because it is added with coconut milk.

Well, because liwet rice itself has been processed using coconut milk, it has a high fat content. So it is hoped that the companion of the nasi liwet is a side dish that is not processed using excessive oil anymore.

During this time, I often use fish that are processed by frying. So it should be accompanied by a protein group that has been processed by means of boiled eggs, it is more suitable. Or with chicken, and grilled fish is more suitable.

Moreover, rice liwet is unique in that it is given areh sauce. Areh gravy is a sauce made with coconut milk which has a very thick composition. So the fat content is already very high, so it is recommended to use a companion to eat, which is processed without using excessive oil.

And then because of its high fat content, it is hoped that later after consuming nasi liwet, you should consume food sources of fiber such as fruits to be able to get rid of the excess of oil contained in nasi liwet.
