Smokey Chicken Karahi Recipe with green chatney(sauce)

Today, I'm sharing a recipe for Smokey Chicken Karahi that's so incredibly delicious, if you make it and serve it to someone, they'll ask for it again. And to go along with it, I've also made a very tasty chutney, whose recipe I'm sharing in this post. We can call it Raita, Green Chutney, or Green Sauce. This chutney doubles the flavor of the Smokey Chicken Karahi.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg chicken
  • 5-6 medium onions
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 3-4 green chilies
  • 2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
  • Half kg yogurt
  • 1 medium-sized piece of coal for smoking
  • 2 teaspoons salt (adjust to taste)
  • 2/3 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Half teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Half teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 piece cinnamon
  • 2 black cardamoms
  • fresh coriander
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper powder

Instructions:

First, cover your hair and wash your hands thoroughly, as hygiene is very important. Then, wash the chicken and start cooking. Heat half cup cooking oil in a karahi (pot🍲) and add chopped onions.

When the onions start turning brown, add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes.

Then, add the chicken and cook for 2-3 minutes. After that, add cumin seeds, cinnamon, black cardamoms, and black pepper powder to the chicken and cook well. This way, the chicken absorbs the flavors of the spices.

Next, add tomatoes, yogurt, and all the spices, and cook for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, mix everything well so that the tomatoes blend in properly, and you get a good gravy.

Since you want a thicker gravy, blend some yogurt and add it on top, along with green chilies and 1 cup water. Cook for some time until the gravy thickens.

After 10 minutes of cooking, place a piece of coal on the flame and let it heat up.

Once it's hot, place a small earthen plate on top of the gravy and put the coal on it. Immediately, add 1 teaspoon oil on the coal and cover it.

Just before smoking, garnish with some fresh coriander leaves, green chilies, and thin slices of ginger on top of the chicken Karahi. This allows the flavors and aromas to meld together beautifully, and then you can add the smoke.

After half a minute, the smoke will fill the air, and your smoky chicken karahi will be ready😋

This smoky chicken karahi is so versatile - you can have it with roti, rice, bread,raita or whatever you like! It's super tasty with anything, honestly.

To make this dish even more flavorful, I made a green chutney, which is very easy to make and requires just a few ingredients. To make it, you'll need:

  • 1 small onion
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 bunch fresh green coriander leaves
  • Some mint leaves
  • 2 green chilies
  • Half teaspoon salt
  • A pinch of cumin seeds

I finely blended these coriander ,Mint leaves ,or green chillies, together by hand, but you can also use a grinder if you prefer.

then added yogurt, pinch of cumin seeds, salt, and a small chopped onion to the mix. After blending everything together well, And that's it! Our delicious green chutney is ready to enjoy with anything you like - snacks, rice, curry, or as a dip. It's especially amazing with our smoky chicken karahi💖
