Greetings Wonderful Individuals

Today it is a pleasure for me to participate in the Culinary Contest initiated by @mariam.dariam. in Ukraine on Steem community. As I am a foodie from a different background this is perfect for me to share one of my creations and one of my favorite dishes. In my opinion, food is not only fuel and nourishment of our body, but passion, memory, love, and creativity in its broadest terms. This is something that I hope to come and see as well as to present what am going to make and what everyone else is going to bring in this cook-battle.

Okra, also known as ladies’ finger is not always relished by many a person. But that’s because by preparing it slightly differently one can make it a meal that all those people will enjoy. Well, I personally did not really like okra a lot but when I tasted this recipe myself and also my whole family embraced it so much. If you are one of those persons who don’t take okra kindly, try this one and I am sure you’ll have a change of heart.

Ingredients I used for this recipe
🔹Okra (Ladies Finger)🔹Garlic paste - 1 tsp
🔹Ginger paste - 1 tsp🔹 Finely chopped onion - 1 large
🔹Salt - to taste🔹Mustard paste - 2 tbsp
🔹Chili powder - 1 tsp🔹Green chilies - 3 to 4
🔹Sour yogurt - 2 tbsp🔹 Mustard oil - 2 tbsp
🔹Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp🔹Sugar - a pinch (to enhance the taste)

Steps
Preparing the Okra:

Before doing anything else, should therefore start by washing the okra. Cut them into even-sized bits. Season the okra with salt and turmeric powder and mix properly.

Frying the Okra:

After that, add mustard oil and heat it in the already-hot frying pan. After heating oil, add the okra pieces and quickly fry for five minutes or until they are soft. Take the fried okra out from the pan and keep it in a bowl.

Making the Masala:

After that, in the same pan, put chopped onions in the rest of the oil. The onions should be cooked until they are lightly browned. To the onions add ginger paste, garlic paste, and mustard paste. Fry the mixture until the production of a raw smell of the spices is no longer produced.

Adding Spices:

Finally, add salt and chili powder to the prepared masala and mix it well. Now I add the sour yogurt to the pan and mix it with the resultant masala. Fry for some time and when the oil has separated from the masala then it is ready.

Combining Okra and Masala:

Put the fried okra back into the pan with the masala. Turn occasionally so that the pieces of okra are coated with the spice mixture. Taste the food and add more of it to enhance the desired taste then add a pinch of sugar to the mixture.

Finishing Touch:

Let the gravy to get thick a little bit stirring it from time to time. When the gravy gets thick, add green chilies to it. Stir it one last time then take it off the flame.
