WALK WITH ME CONTEST MENTORED BY @LIDIASTEEM 27/04/21
Hello steemians
This contest brings back a whole lot of good memories. I had even forgotten about my primary school until i saw this contest. I was so excited to participate. Let me take u back to the primary school i attended.
I'm a Nigerian but i was born in Cameroon. I completed my primary and secondary education in Cameroon.
I attended providence bilingual kindergarten and primary school (PBKC). The colour of our uniform was pink and green. The school was founded by a lady, Mrs Nana Anastasia in 1994. The school is bilingual, that means both French and English is accepted there. This was how the school looked like
The school was recorded as one of the best schools in town back then
We had this image above imprinted on a white cloth to represent a school batch. A uniform without that school batch shows that you are not a pupil of the school.
The school uniform.
THE EXPERIENCE I WILL NEVER FORGET
In Cameroon, once in a year, we recognize a day called the bilingual day. On this day, every francophone (french speaking) is expected to speak in English while the anglophone that's the English speaking are expected to speak in French. As a Nigerian, i knew little or no French not because i couldn't learn it but because i didn't put in interest to learning it then, and this made me develop fobia for bilingual day. I remember on one of such days, all our teachers promised to punish anyone caught not speaking in French. I was so scared because i didn't know how to comunicate in french. I was left with the option of hiding all day and not speaking to anyone. I felt really terrible. I did not speak until the school bus came to take me home.
I had lovely teachers then.
I left the school after i had acquired my first school living certificate in 2006, and i made alot of good friends.
