Imagine been attacked by a mysterious person, only to see yourself waking up in a dark room and chained to a pipe. You site a video cassette nearby, you press “play”, only to see someone putting on a weird mask. A voice crackles through the silence, chilling you to your core: “Live or die, make your choice.” You can only experience this in the world of “saw”. A terrifying game of survival.
In the movie “saw”, jigsaw is giving you a choice to save yourself but the options are terrifying. According to jigsaw philosophy, survival isn’t just about instinct but about facing the consequences of the actions you have done in the past. In order words, your past actions is the reason you find yourself in his deadly game , to force you to reevaluate your life, actions and regret.
Time is also not your friend in this movie because the more time you take to search for a clue that will save your life, the closer you are to death. Trust me when I say that this death doesn’t come easy, it arrives with tremendous amount of pains beyond your wildest imagination. In saw, every game comes with big a sacrifice that might involve loosing a part of your body just to free yourself from death. The movie will make you ask yourself this question: how much pains can your body take to get another second shot in life??
What Scares Me About Saw? |
---|
The movie “Saw” is not just your regular horror movie, were they use scare tactics to make you jolt in your seat. It comes with a different type of horror, that creeps under your skin designed to test every survival instinct of the human spirit. As the viewer, after watching the gruesome death of his victim, before you do anything evil, you will definitely think of the consequences that awaits you because jigsaw might be watching you from somewhere and you don’t want to be in his deadly game.
Does It Still Scare Me Now? |
---|
No… the movie no longer scare me. I’m far older now but the film's ability to tap into my deepest fears and anxieties never gets old. The psychological horror remains potent and always give that sense of unease all the time.
