Bunta, a charming island that its inhabitants left behind

Initially, Bunta Island was a residential area. However, the island was abandoned by its inhabitants after being swept away by the tsunami storm at the end of 2004. This island is able to represent the face of the archipelago, an archipelago country.

Bunta Island is included in the administrative area of Peukan Bada District, Aceh Besar District. After its inhabitants were abandoned, the island was turned into a garden by land owners who then moved to the city of Banda Aceh.
