Beauty of Creativity : The Leptocoris vicinus |10% beneficiary to @beautycreativity
Good evening all friends #BeautyOfCreativity (BOC).
Tonight I will show some photos of a red bug, this insect I found in the yard of my school complex, many of these animals that we can find in the shrubs in my area.
The Leptocoris vicinus is part of a distinct group of insects called the soapberry bugs. While this one doesn't have any distinct common name, they are easily distinguished with the red or brown body with a v-shape black part at the bottom of its body. They are in subtropical regions and commonly make a host of the Chinese Rain Tree (Koelreuteria elegans).
Physical description: Dorsum completely red except for black membrane and blackish clavus (sometimes surrounding area as well) that forms a distinct 'v' shape around scutellum; pronotum may have black markings. Ventral side black with red margins around abdomen. Coxae and appendages are black.
Usually, the leptocoris vicinus won't threaten or hurt humans. But remember that even a worm will turn. Remember to still be cautious.
Leptocoris is the largest genus of the soapberry bug subfamily. The 41 species of this genus are distributed throughout Africa, South Asia, and Oceania and are thought to have originated in Africa, where the greatest diversity of Leptocoris species are found.
