Dear Members,
When it comes to nutrition, the more you know, the better your choices will be. One of the most common questions people ask when it comes to their diet revolves around adding vegetables. If a person eats a varied and balanced diet in general, then this is certainly not enough of an explanation as to why we need to eat more than just salads and steamed or boiled vegetables every day. In this article, we’ll cover everything you need to know about adding more vegetables (and less of the other) into your diet. There are so many reasons to include more veggies in your daily routine that we’re sure you’ll agree after reading this about why we add them to our meals. Here the attached images are originally captured by me.
What is a Vegetable?
Vegetables are the fresh parts of plants that can be eaten as food, or used for cooking or producing ingredients. In a culinary context, a vegetable is often any fruit or seed eaten as part of a mainly vegetable diet, but also refers to leafy herbs used as a seasoning or as ingredients in food. Vegetables are the main source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants in the human diet. In fact, vegetables are nutrient superstars.
Why We Need to Add More Vegetables to Our Diet
Vegetables are low in calories and fat and provide dietary fiber, which can help you feel full and improve digestive health. Vegetables are a great source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help to maintain a healthy body and prevent diseases. They are also rich in fiber, which is essential for digestion and is associated with keeping your metabolism high, preventing weight gain, and helping to prevent conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancers. There are many different ways to add more vegetables to your diet. You can eat more salads and vegetables raw, you can add vegetables to soups and stews or you can add vegetables to your casseroles, curries, and stir-fries. You can also steam vegetables and make your own vegetable soup. By simply adding more vegetables to your meals, you will be increasing your intake of vitamins, fiber, protein, and other nutrients, while reducing your intake of fat and calories.
The Benefits of Eating More Veggies
- Vibrant, healthy skin.
- A lower risk of heart disease and diabetes.
- Weight loss.
- Stronger immunity.
- Higher energy levels.
- Better mood.
- Better digestion.
- Better hydration. Plus, vegetables are loaded with fiber, which helps to prevent cholesterol and blood sugar levels from rising too quickly, thus preventing heart disease and diabetes. Vegetables are also a great source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help to maintain a healthy body and prevent diseases.
