Focus is King

As we have limited time, we also have limited attention, and it’s so easy to get distracted nowadays. Today, we’ll cover simple tips to help you focus on what really matters.

1) Avoid the Shiny Object

You’ve probably heard the idiom “the grass is always greener on the other side.” It’s based on the idea that things appear more attractive from a distance. The reason for this is simple: you’re not close enough to see the details.

For example, if you’re into programming—specifically web development—AI might become the shiny object. You may think AI developers are earning more, have more stable careers, and face fewer challenges. But you're only seeing the advantages of being in AI, not the downsides.

This scenario applies to any field. There will always be something tempting you to leave your current path for another. However, once you make the switch, you often realize it’s not as green as it seemed.

Remember, focus is king. A talented web developer will always be more valuable than an average cybersecurity specialist.

Distractions will constantly come your way, but always keep in mind: the grass is greener where you water it.

2) Exclude as Many Options as Possible

We all have different interests, aspirations, and plans. For example, I’d love to be an entrepreneur, an English teacher, a content creator, an investor, and a boxer.

But because I’m aware of my limited time and attention, I need to narrow my focus and prioritize the things that matter most to me.

A simple exercise you can try is writing down 10 things you’d love to be or do. Then, choose one or two, and let go of the rest.

Imagine if Lionel Messi had nine other main interests alongside football—would he have achieved the same level of success? Probably not.

The fewer options you pursue, the easier it is to excel in life.

3) A Bad Decision is Better Than Indecision

I’ve wasted a lot of time being indecisive. I always had too many options and was often paralyzed by the fear of choosing the wrong one. As a result, I chose nothing for a long time.

Indecision leads to inaction, indecision is the thief of opportunities.

In most cases, a bad decision is better than no decision at all.
