Physalis Crassifolia is a shrub-like perennial that produces freely branching stems that become woody with age, oval leaves and clusters of small yellow flowers on long stems. Stems, leaves and flowers covered with short, fine hairs. The flowers have five fused lobes with a yellow or dark green base surrounded by a short stamen and a style. The flowers continue to bloom and eventually the lower part and sepals turn into a tomato-like fruit.
