Orchard Spider (Leucauge venusta) in Sumatra
These photos were taken by me in Meureudu, Pidie Jaya regency, Aceh. This is Leucauge venusta, commonly known as the orchard spider, a long-jawed spider belonging to the family Tetragnathidae.
It's bright green, has six eyes, a white oval abdomen with black stripes, a metallic green under-abdomen, and long slender legs. The color that blends with the leaves, allows the orchid spider to camouflage behind the leaves when it wants to ambush prey.
