Brown Crab Spider: Protecting Her Future Babies

In a vast expanse of meadow, a mother crab spider (genus Misumessus) is protecting her future babies. She places her eggs in a soft silk wrap that she sticks on the grass stalks. The mother did not move at all from her place, she guarded the eggs with all her soul from the threat of the enemy.

In addition to placing her eggs there, the grass is quite effective for her to camouflage. There she can observe prey passing by, and if there is a chance she can kill her prey in one bite with her strong and sharp jaws. Like other spider species, crab spiders are also known as predators. Small grasshoppers are their favorite prey.
