Araneus quadratus Orb-weaver on Grass
This is the orb-weaver spider I captured a while ago. Unlike orb-weaver spiders, which generally have a long abdomen, this orb-weaver has a large, short abdomen.
The abdomen is yellow with brown and white motifs on the upper side. It spreads cobwebs on the grass with a limited range, lays eggs there, as well as catches prey that passes.
From its physical characteristics, I can tell this is Araneus quadratus, a species of orb-weaver spider in the genus Araneus.
