Tortoise Beetle Pupa
As I went out to find the macro object, I found this around the grassland. It a unique beetle pupa, so I tried to get some shots while it was calm there. Actually, it is also occasionally spotted inland. Unfortunately, I got a problem with the light which made me unable to find proper pictures. Since it did not make a significant move so I had a good chance to capture it from the angles I like with cute poses. This is most likely a Pupa or Tortoise Beetle. known to use their excrement to 'decorate' themselves and have interesting appendages and protrusions. Pupa of both species are spiny along the sides and have hook on the end of the abdomen that carry fecal material on their back, which helps camouflage them and deter predators and parasites. It stuck on the wild grass, waiting to be the real tortoise. It looks so cute with light yellow color, but the "tail" catches its face and as it move around, it continuously flicks it up over its back and down again.
