Thin-Shelled Rock Crab

in Beauty of Creativitylast year

Thin-Shelled Rock Crab is a small species of crab that live in rocky intertidal habitats along the coast. It usually seen in crack of beach rock. Just like the one I found, it need a little water to hibernate itself during a period of time. When I got close to it, it did not move. This crab was just right there, and seemed to be so weak which allowed me to take the pictures from any angle I liked. These pics were actually taken long ago, at the western side of local beach on one afternoon. As usual, I strolled around the beach, tried to find something good to be shot, and I found this crab was helpless. The thin-shelled rock crab is sought after as a food source in many different cultures. It can be normally be found among rocky outcrops that allow for a safe place to escape to when there are signs of danger. It inhabits rocky shores at mid to high tide level and so can be found around beach rocks, boat ramps, rock walls and jetties.
