Spotted Spreadwing - Lestes congener || 10% to shy-fox
This spotted spreadwing damselflies (Lestes congener), is included in large damselflies family that hold their wings spread out to the side rather than down along the body as in most damselflies and it has beautiful blue eyes. It is active creature and harmless to humans, but it is voracious predator of small flying insects such as flies and mosquitoes. Seeing it calm a bit, decided to take the pictures with a smartphone as close as possible.
This damselfly was probably out of its range during the twentieth century but has brought benefits within its kind over the last few decades from conservation management aimed at increasing open fen vegetation. It is mainly found around the bush, near the shallow, freshwater habitat. I found it again swinging around the ditch that was filled with grass. It is classified as predatory insects.
This typical damselfly usually stop in one place while patrolling the prey and after that it would return to the same spot. it was not quite active in the daylight. After spending some time, I was finally able to capture some pictures of this fascinating species of winged insect.
