Insect on the Spot: Green-Eyed Robber Fly

in Beauty of Creativity11 months ago

I coming back with some pictures of green-eyed robber fly that I took few days ago. Robber fly is known as a predator of almost flying insects. It is capable of knocking down the prey by injecting a fluid into its victims. Having this reputation, robber fly is also called assassin fly. It belongs to the family Asilidae in the order Diptera. I only spotted a single robber fly on wild plant, and it seems to be there waiting for the prey. This robber fly has bigger form of the body than other robber flies that allowed it to take these pics with DSLR. All I needed to do was to manage to get a couple of shots from distance range before it's really disappeared from my sight. This insect is also called a predatory insect for it feeds itself with other insects and capable of catching prey in flight. It has stout, spinny legs with two large compound eyes and deserved to be exposed.
