Cattle Egrets Resting on Mangrove | 10% Beneficiary to shy-fox
Other wildlife captured is some cattle egrets, small, and stocky birds that have a similar size to a white-faced heron, but not as slim and with a shorter neck. I spotted these birds were enjoying their afternoon time on the mangrove which then urged me to manage to take some shots from long distance range. As you can see the way they stand, these cattle egrets typically have a rather hunched posture, and when feeding they have a jerky walking action.
Cattle egrets are more frequently spotted in dry habitats, rarely seen on the water but we can see them following cattle or large animals (cow, buffalo) and feeding on invertebrates stirred up from the ground. Here on this tree, they share a place with other egrets while waiting for the night to come. These typical egrets are not as aggressive as white egrets but still, I had to make sure that I was far enough to photograph them, or otherwise they would fly away. I
