Catch in the Act: Mating Flies
These flies seem need a quite space, and I admit, that's my bad showing up, exposing their privacy to the public. Unlike common flies, the houseflies are mostly found on the flower that seemed to be looking for food like bees do. I was fascinated with the look of this fly from the closest range which hard to let go before I took some pictures while it was still perching on there.
They are regarded as a nuisance insect and a hazard to public health and a disease carrier that most of us avoid to have them around. As we all know, the housefly is commonly found in the garbage and decomposing organic waste. So I am not going to talk about its behavior but I prefer to see this housefly from another side.
The good thing is, I found them were mating on the leaf instead in the garbage, which makes them look so good on the camera. That's why I don't mind taking a couple of shots even it is generally unattracted by the naked eyes but thru macro, it will be different. So, here are some pics of the flies in the act that I took around the bush several days ago.
