Bee Spotlight: Alfalfa Leafcutter Bee | 10% Beneficiary to shy-fox

Right after getting done with the landscapes, when I turned back, I spotted this little bee was perching on the wild grass. This required me to switch the gear, as it was not covered by a DSLR, to the smartphone. As I told you, I always prepared myself with two types of camera, DSLR, and smartphone when heading to the hunting spots. It was almost dark, and this bee was seemingly calm so I could manage to take some shots but when I was trying to get another shot, it flew to another bee colony, look like it was seeking help. It was clearly like a stranger among those bees and it can be seen from the look of two different kinds of bees trying to mingle in. I started to mainly focus on this alfalfa bee as I thought, it was great to have it among those bees. Alfalfa leafcutter bees are mostly brown and black with fairly smooth fur when viewed from above. They have slightly pointed abdomens and carr y pollen on special velcro-like hairs under their abdomen (called scopa). the alfalfa leafcutting bee is a solitary bee in the family Megachilidae, in the genus Megachile.

M. rotundata are solitary, tunnel-nesting bees that will reuse holes drilled by other insects or animals, as well as hollow reeds and flower stems to make their nest cavities.source
