Beautiful Black Bee on Wild Flower

in Beauty of Creativity5 months ago

Since it was not moving quite a lot, right after noticing this bee from distance, I carefully walked toward it with my smartphone was ready to take a couple of shots. It moved quite a lot during midday which made me waited for little longer to have good time for the shot. It is known Stingless Bee or Black Bee (Heterotrigona Itama), one of the common bees that we used to see spending time on flower, sucking nectar. Stingless bees do possess stingers, but they are too small to be useful in defense. Instead of stinging, stingless bees use their mandibles to bite their attackers. I managed to get another shot when its wing open. To get this picture, I had to deal with speed, and focus that might not leave behind. While it stayed still, I shifted to the backside and kept clicking on this part for several times. The stingless bee is so named because it does not sting. Despite having small stingers, stingless bees rarely sting and do not use them for defense. However, stingless bees possess mandibles that can be used to bite humans and other animals if threatened, which is their primary defense mechanism.
