Asiatic Blood Tail

in Beauty of Creativitylast year

This species of dragonfly is called Asiatic Blood Tail (Lathrecista asiatica) that usually seen in the wood, perching on the grass or twigs. Due to this dragonfly was impossible to reach it with smartphone, so I manage to take this dragonfly photos with DSLR from long distance range as well as the way to avoid from its notice. As I used to do when dealing with insects, I had to be careful approaching its place. Lucky me, it was still calm and allowed me to get a few more shots of this beautiful winged insect. The reason why dragonfly is different from other insects are their eyes, wings, tail and speeding during flight and this insect has good eyes to detect the threatening objects that may harm them. I found this typical dragonfly at two different places, wood and outside of the house a couple of days ago. Asiatic Blood Tail dragonfly distributes over much of Far East Asia from eastern India to Indochina. Above is the red adult male with brownish red wings with clear tips typical of the male of several neurothemis species.
