February 21, 1992. There was a movement on the highway to protect the mother tongue. The deadly sons of Bengali mother killed by Pakistani government forces. Salaam-Barkat-Rafiq-Shafiq-Jabbar, in the sacrifice of those martyrs who do not know more, we return to the language of our lives Bangla.

Twenty-one February is celebrated today as International Mother Language Day, with the recognition of the United Nations.

Celebration

Every year since the 1952, this day has been celebrated as National Day of Mourning.Ekushey February was declared a government holiday after Bangladesh became independent. On this occasion, radio, television and cultural organizations organized various events highlighting the martyr day.

Newspapers of the country also publish special articles. Bangla Academy organizes Ekushey Book Fair in Dhaka throughout February.
