CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT!! MY FAVOURITE HOBBY.

Its so good to be here again writing on another amazing topic. I must confess that its not easy to constantly come up with such ideas on a contest to host weekly, so I give a tombs up to all those hosting contest in this community @steemitnursery. @bright-obias thank you for putting up this particular contest, it gives me a platform to share with steemians about my hobby and am excited am doing that in this community.
The title of this contest is My favourite hobby.
Before one can really understand what my favourite hobby is i think you should also know what hobby means because this days people have given pet names to several things and have also shortened names into short forms, you hear someone calling her husband hubby and u wander what she is even talking about. Hahahaha. Thats on the lighter note.
WHAT HOBBY MEANS.
A hobby is considered to be a regular activity that is done for enjoyment, typically during one's leisure time, not professionally or for pay.source
From the above definition you could see that anything you enjoy doing and its regular without someone paying you for it is likened as a hobby.
A hobby is something you can do without stress and payment. But for the pleasure you derive.
ABOUT MY HOBBY
There are several types of hobby ranging from sports, cooking, sleeping, going out for parties even some people have eating as hobby yes o.
I have so many hobby like writing, listening to music, sports, reading, drawing and making new friends but my favourite hobby is reading. I love reading just anything i come across, ranging from magazines, text books, novels, spiritual books etc. I get inspired when i read. Reading has shaped my mindset about life generally. While growing up i loved reading novels and magazines but now i love reading inspirational or spiritual books. Everyday i read atleast 2 chapters of a book. Especially when it is a very interesting book. Sometimes when am reading, i even forget to eat, because of how catchy and interesting the book is.
One amazing fact about me reading books is that i don't read books based on the title of the book. Rather i read books base on the author of the book. Somebody is surprised? Yes ! This is because reading is very spiritual especially when it is a motivational book. While reading you connect to the mind and spirit of the author, you could tell the feelings of the author while writing that book. Now it means those feelings are transfered to you while you read. My second reason is because you always become what you read i.e you become the author of a book you are reading when you constantly read his books. So am careful not to become the wrong person!
I can read just anywhere, because I carry the soft copies of my books on my phone. I can be travelling and am reading. This year alone i have read so many books and presently am on a book titled Daughter you can make it written by Dag Heward-mills a book full of encouragement for women, giving hope and pushing them to becomes the best. I love reading.
HOW DO I MANAGE TO LIKE SUCH HOBBY?
How did i manage to like reading huh!
I love reading and i learnt that at a very early stage of my life. While growing up i was a very inquisitive person, always wanting to know how things came about. My Dad started buying books for me. He buys books that got nothing to do with me, imagine i was just 6 and he will buy newspapers and bring them home for me to read them, i will look at the pictures on the news paper, look for parts where there was cartoon drawings at the back page. By the time i was done then i will try to pronounce some words on the news paper, the words i couldn't get correctly my dad would pronounce them for me. Some other times when i look at the pictures e.g a picture of two men standing and pointing fingers at each other, that inquisitive part of me will start asking questions like why are these men standing and pointing fingers. My dad will tell me to try and read for my self why? At the end of the day i will understand better. So my Dad played a vital role in the aspect of having reading as a hobby. By the time i started reading i enjoyed it so much that i started going to the bookshop to get books for myself.
THE IMPERATIVE ASPECT OF MY HOBBY
The following are imperative aspect of my hobby which is Reading.
Reading makes me vast in words therefore it develops my vocabulary. When a person reads,his use of English is improved.
Reading exposes my mind to gain knowledge: there are so many things i have learnt in life just by reading. You gain knowledge when you read. New ideas and innovations can be gotten by just reading.
Reading is a form of exercise to the brain: reading sharpens your brain making it active always.
Reading gives you an opportunity to interact with the mind of the author: there are some author you may never meet in this life but reading their books makes you interact with them.
Reading is a form of relaxation. It helps relax your nerves especially when reading things that has a form of comedy in it, you just notice you keep smelling and laughing while reading such books. You wont even remember you were stressed before reading.
Reading exposes you to creativity: There are things you read and you get inspired instantly to do something. Inspiration can come from just reading.
HOW I PLAN TO MAKE A LANDMARK USING MY HOBBY.
I have noticed that a lot of young people do not find reading interesting. Some don't even read at all, so to make a landmark using my hobby reading, i decided that in time to come i would organise a reading contest for young people, where they have targets of books to read and then give a review about the books read. This contest will hold starting from the local communities and in schools. These contest will hold three times in a year. Prizes will be set as a bait for them. Organising such contest or competition will encourage a lot of young people to get interested in reading, before you know it reading must have become a hobby to them.
