Privilege today to attend a cultural ceremony in Ogu town, Rivers State, Nigeria. It was indeed display of cultural customs and masquerades.
The masquerades were decorated to despite various type of fishes in the locality as it is brackish water.
Fishes like, Tilapia, Catfish, lungfish and others are crafted by craftsmen is it is used to decorate the masquerades which makes it look so colorful and attractive.
These masquerades called “Owo” performs in cultural ceremonies, burials , chieftaincy installation program, and also during marriages here in Rivers State.
It is believed that these masquerades represent various family ancestors which is the reason that most communities fully accepts and sponsors it display during yuletide season.
These masquerades performed during the Chieftaincy installation of Mrs. Asime Sekibo in recognition of her stool as Etim Ba 1.
The event has in attendance various top personalities .
Our Culture is our Pride.
