... steep backcountry around Lotte Arai. Hard to appreciate the scale here but they are the tops of trees sticking out. Lotte is a relatively new ski resort development west of Myoko looking over the Sea of Japan in Honshu.

looking to your great picture i had a flashback. i've once been to sapporo for skiing. sensational experience to ski down a powder hill and have a view on the sea🤩. also the snow is so different to what i know from swiss mountains.
