... Laras" is part of the city's historical heritage. The building was the headquarters of the Royal Dutch Shell company built in 1928.
its name comes from the "Samanes tree" that surrounded the area, whom the Zulianos called "Laras".
But contemporary history recalls the area as a space where you would find groups of prostitutes at night, making it famous for that reason.
In 2003, the building was restored by the government, after being damaged by a fire that destroyed it, and today is " PDVSA LA ESTANCIA" an organization in charge of promoting national culture.
There are no longer any prostitutes and it is a beautiful building that was declared a national cultural heritage in 1991.

Está esquina es un emblema, la esquina de "Las Laras" es parte de acervo histórico de la ciudad. El edificio, fué la sede de la compañía Royal Dutch Shell construido en 1928.
Su nombre proviene de los Samanes que rodeaban la zona, a los que los zulianos llamaban "Laras".
Pero la historia contemporánea rememora la zona como un espacio en el que encontrabas grupos de prostitutas en las noches, haciéndolo famoso por esa razón.
En 2003, el edificio fué restaurado por el gobierno, después de haber sufrido daños por un incendio que lo destruyó y hoy es cede de PDVSA la estancia, un organismo que se encarga de promover la cultura nacional.
Ya no hay prostitutas y es una hermosa edificación que fué declarada patrimonio cultural nacional en el año 1991.
