Jackfruit is a well-known fruit. Jackfruit is very popular in the northern part of Bangladesh. Jackfruit is one of my favorite fruits. Jackfruit ripening time in summer in Bangladesh. Jackfruit is available in the market at this time. We don't have jackfruit trees in our house. My grandmother's house has several jackfruit trees. This delicious fruit has many nutritional value. Jackfruit contains Vitamin C, A, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Calcium, Potassium, Iron, Zinc, Sodium, Folic Acid.

Jackfruit is commonly used in Southeast Asian cuisine. Both ripe and unripe fruits are eaten. Jackfruit is the national fruit of Bangladesh. Jackfruit trees are found all over Bangladesh. Raw jackfruit is called enchor. Jackfruit wood is preferred for making furniture. Jackfruit leaves are the favorite food of various animals. Jackfruit seeds can also be eaten.

Structure of jackfruit tree Jackfruit is an evergreen tree. It is easily 10 to 20 meters long. The bark of the jackfruit tree is reddish brown and smooth. Milk juice comes out when the skin is injured. The leaves are arranged alternately and spirally. These are dense and it divides into petioles and leaves. In young trees, the leaf edges are irregularly split. In older trees, the leaves are round and dark green with smooth leaf margins.

The size of the flowers and fruits of the jackfruit tree Jackfruit trees are homogeneous, with both female and male flowers. Inflorescences are arboreal, elliptical or pear-shaped, about 10-12 cm long and 5-7 cm long. The flowers sit in small, fleshy rhizomes. 2 male flowers are green in color, some flowers are seedless. Male flowers are hairy. Individual and prominent steamens straight with yellow, rounded anthers.

Nutritional benefits of jackfruit

• Jackfruit is rich in nutrients. It contains a variety of nutrients including thiamine, riboflavin, calcium, potassium, iron, sodium, zinc and niacin. On the other hand, jackfruit contains a lot of meat, sugar and vitamins, which are especially beneficial for the human body.

• Jackfruit is an excellent source of potassium

• Jackfruit has a lot of vitamin A which prevents night blindness.

• The magnesium and calcium present in jackfruit play a role in bone formation and bone strengthening.

• The phytonutrients present in jackfruit are able to prevent ulcers, cancer, high blood pressure and aging.

• Jackfruit roots are also effective in treating skin diseases.

• One of the benefits of jackfruit is vitamin C.

• The roots of the jackfruit tree relieve asthma.

The use of jackfruit in cooking

In many Asian countries, young jackfruit is cooked as a vegetable. In many cultures, jackfruit is cooked and used as a staple food in curries. Boiled young jackfruit is used in salads or as a vegetable in spicy curries and side dishes. It may be cooked with coconut milk In South India, jackfruit pieces are deep fried to make unrefined chips.

Jackfruit cultivation

High and medium well drained fertile land which does not stand water is suitable for jackfruit. Jackfruit seedlings are usually made from jackfruit seeds. Seedlings will germinate in 20-25 days if large seeds nourished from well ripe jackfruit are taken out and spread in the seedbed after drying in the shade for 2/3 days. 2-3 month old seedlings should be carefully picked and planted in the main land. Seedlings can also be made using cocoon pens, pulse pens, eye pens, seedling pens.
