I am happy to partake is such a beautiful contest which will enable me talk about a woman that inspires me so much. Thanks @frankingcol for this contest

But before we talk about this great woman, lets define some key words.

Science is an intellectual process and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.

As stated above, science includes knowledge, practice through observation and experiment. That means before something has to be considered scientific or a fact, it has to be physically or naturally observed or experiment over time.

Nursing is no just an act of caring as it mostly concluded by many. Nursing is also science too as it includes research based on theoretical knowledge that is reflective(knowledge that has exclude lucks), subjective(perceived knowledge), objective(how much someone actually knows), and interpretive(ability to understand and appreciate facts).

From the above definition it can be understood why i wish to talk about Florence Nightingale, mother of nursing as a woman of science

Florence Nightingale was born on the 12/5/1820 and died in the year 1910. She was born into a wealthy family and was opportune to be educated. During the time of the Crimean war, many British soldiers were injured and lost their lives, this pave the way for Nightingale through her kind heart and knowledge to begin the journey of nursing.
She dedicated herself to care for the injured soldiers. She could visit soldiers even at night and she was called the woman with the lamb.

Her services was mainly in maintaining a clean environment, so that Patients can have good air to breath, free from odors, have sunlight etc.

• She believed a clean environment will foster the healing of these soldiers.
• She also believed that nature has a path to play in the healing process.
• She believed a clean working environment for the physician will foster Patients healing
• she cleaned the environment, maintained hygiene and also cared for these soldiers.
  These she did ,observed and documented results which she used to trained other nurses to assist her.

if i had the opportunity to meet Florence Nightingale i could say thank you for paving the way for this great profession, thank you for giving hope to the sick because nurses are the backbone of health care systems, thank you for being a woman with a different

As you have read, these are some of the reasons why i considered Florence Nightingale as a woman of science
