Am I superstitious?

in RECREATIVE STEEM3 months ago (edited)

Assalam o alaikum.

Hello my steemit friends I hope you are doing well. I am very happo take part in this interesting contest. I love to read and write about different topics and today i am excited to share my thoughts about superstitions. Some people believe in them very strongly while others do not. So now let me tell you what i think about superstitions.

Do you believe in superstitions? If yes on a scale of 1 to 10 how superstitious are you? If not explain why?

Yes i believe in superstitions but not too much. On a scale of 1 to 10 i would say i am a 5. That means i believe in some superstitions but I also use my brain to think about what is right or wrong. Sometimes superstitions come from our culture family or stories we hear since childhood. So it is natural for people to believe in them. For example my grandmother always says “If a black cat crosses your path it brings bad luck.” When i was a child i believed this completely. Even now sometimes i stop walking if a black cat crosses my way. But later laugh and think “How can a poor cat bring bad luck?” So i believe in some superstitions but I don’t let them control my life completely.

Do you think that if you are superstitious you can controls your destiny?

No i do not thinks being superstitious can control our destinys. Our hard work prayers honesty and patience shape our future not superstitions. Believing in them too much can make us scared and confused. For example if someone says “Don’t travel today it’s unlucky ” and we cancel an important plan we may miss a good chance. So we should believe in ourselves and leave the rest to God. Destiny is something written by Allah. Superstitions cannot change what is already decided by Him. We should do our best and always think positively.

What do you think of this superstition: "Do not marry do not embark or leave your home"?

This is an old superstition that says people should not marry start a journey or leave home on certain days or times because it brings bad luck. I don’t agree with this. Life is full of surprises and we cannot stop living just because of fear. If we wait for a “perfect time ” we may never move forward. I think we should plan our events wisely check the weather or road conditions before traveling and make decisions with love and care when it comes to marriage. That is more important than believing in a certain day or time.

Do you think it is bad luck for the groom to sees the bride before the wedding?

This is a very famous superstition. Many peoples say that if the groom sees the bride before the wedding it brings bad luck to their marriage. I think this is just a traditional belief. In real life the success of a marriage depends on love respect understanding and trust. In some cultures couples meet many times before marriage talk to each other and make plans for their future. And they still live happy lives. So seeing each other before the wedding does not bring bad or good luck. What matters is how they treat each other after the wedding.

What other superstition do you know that you could share with us? Do you think it is true?

There are many superstitions I have heard in my life. Some are funny some are scary and some are strange. Here are a few:

Don’t cut nails at night – People say it brings bad luck or death. But i think this came from old times when there was no electricity and cutting nails in the dark could cause injury.

Itchy right hand means you will get money – I used to get excited when my right hand itched but later I understood that it’s just a skin thing not magic.

Breaking a mirror brings seven years of bad luck – I think this is just a way to make people careful while handling glass. Mirrors are expensive and sharp.

Hiccups mean someone is remembering you – This one is funny. But in real life hiccups usually come when we eat fast or drink less water.

I do not believe these are true but they are part of our culture and fun to talk about.

I want to say that superstitions are part of human nature. Some people believe in them deeply while others do not. I believe we should respect each other’s views. If a superstition does not harm anyone it is okay. But we should not let it control our lives. Belief in God hard work and positive thinking is
more powerful than any superstition.
