Making RICE ART for my daughter's project on the occasion of Diwali - The Festival of Lights which will be celebrated on the 24th of October!

I hope you are all doing great and spending a nice week so far! It is crazy how time is flying and soon weekend will be here...
Some days back, my daughter told me that she has to do a 'project' on the occasion of Diwali, which will be celebrated soon!
This was for her art class and wanted to do something different from her class friends...
Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights and will be celebrated on the 24th of October...while my daughter has to submit her project this coming Monday!
Rice Art with a traditional clay lamp on top...
I shared the idea with my daughter and she liked it!!!
She was so curious about how I will proceed and I took her with me all along to show her all the different steps!
Let me show you how we did it...
First step is to color raw rice...
Simple thing to do, just use food coloring or any other natural color like turmeric and mix with raw rice with little water until you get the below results.
You need to let it dry a bit for an hour or two before using!
For our project, I used 3 different colors : Red/Yellow/Green!
Draw the shapes with the help of a compass...
This is basic Maths and below you can see how I started.
I took a hard cover and drew the petals with a pencil and compass!
Apply glue and make stick the colored rice...
You have to make one color at a time and wait until it is dry then move on to the next...
Complete the drawing...
The 2nd rice color that I glued to the drawing is the yellow one which I made with turmeric and water!
Finish it off with the red one!
I used a small tweezer to have a nice design where we can see the different petals and colors...
Place the lamp on top and it is ready...
I will glue the lamp too so that it is easy for her to bring at school and present to her art teacher...
I think it is looking nice and will surely be different from her friends!
Anyway...this was our first time having a try on rice art and we are very satisfied with the end result!
Maybe I will add something in the lamp or write something to wish everyone a Happy Diwali...I have till Sunday evening to decide...that's a lot of time for me!!!
The most important thing for me is that my daughter is happy and learnt a new thing with Rice Art!
