Hi everyone,
Today is 14th August, "The Independence Day of Pakistan." It's been 77 years since Pakistan came into existence ALLHAMDULILLAH . Every year, this special day is celebrated across the country with immense patriotism, and I thought of sharing a glimpse of these celebrations through my post.
Celebration At Night And Fireworks
As I live in Karachi, I'll be sharing the vibrant celebrations of this city. Karachi is known for celebrating Independence Day with wild patriotism and fireworks are a must. Every year on the night of August 13th, the entire city gathers at various spots to enjoy fireworks that kick off at midnight. People wave flags, sing loud Mili Naghmay (Independence Day songs) along with the speakers, and this year, a massive Pakistani flag was carried through the streets. The night celebrations are truly a sight to behold.
Celebration Across the Streets of Karachi
Every street, house, market, malls and road is adorned with the flags of our beloved country. Small stalls are set up at every corner, selling clothes, accessories, flags, and badges for Independence Day
The roads are filled with children buying all sorts of festive items, dressed in green and white the colors of Independence Day. This is the beauty of Karachi. When I stepped out of my house today I saw every home decorated with jhandiyan (small flags made of paper used to decorate houses). There were even a few stalls offering free face painting for children. Yesterday on the street, I noticed some arrangements being made for the Independence Day ceremony and speeches. Unfortunately, I missed the chance to take pictures of the setup.
Celebration At Our University
Every year, our university hosts a small celebration ceremony for Independence Day. The university is beautifully decorated, and everything is arranged for the event. The celebration begins with a beautiful recitation of Quranic verses, followed by a series of activities, including a speech competition where both students and faculty participate. Patriotic speeches are delivered in both English and Urdu, and there is a session of Q/A with questions related to Pakistan's history. Winners receive prizes, and two of my friends and I managed to answer correctly and win small prizes. The day concluded with a heartfelt speech from our university president.
I loved the part of the speech where he talked about the true meaning of sacrifices for Pakistan. He said, and I quote, "You will never know the meaning of sacrifices until you go through it. Our ancestors left India, their land, their homes, their properties, all for this piece of land just for Pakistan, just to build a Muslim country."
So, you all should value their sacrifices. Leaving Pakistan is not the solution, especially in these challenging times. By doing so, you are disregarding the sacrifices of your ancestors
The celebration came to an end with the announcement of competition winners and a cake cutting ceremony. It was a beautiful day at the university. And as I return to the streets of Pakistan the celebration is still in full swing and will continue until the day ends.
that's all for today .
THANKYOU
