Good day steemians. Today I'll be talking about the effects technology has brought in the health sector.

With the advancement of technology things has really changed and the medical sector is not left out.

Advantages of technology in the healthcare sector

One major benefit of technology is that it has made information required from patients very easy for the doctors to access. hospitals no longer need to keep records on papers anymore all the information can be easily stored in USB drives and others thereby saving space for the hospital to perform other relevant activities.

Thanks to technology devices such as pulse oximeter, glucometer, BP checker and so on has been made to be able to track the patient's health. Using these machines has really helped to reduce the death rate as doctors are alerted in case something goes wrong with the patient.

Technology has also helped patients to easily get in touch with their doctors no matter where they are in the world and if there are any medicines they ought to take they can easily order it through some health platforms and it will be delivered to them right at your doorstep.

Disadvantages of technology in the healthcare sector

As we all know technology still has its disadvantages in the healthcare sector. For example when inputting data for a patient typographical errors can be made thereby altering the data leading to a wrong diagnosis and in a war scenario the death of the patient.

When patient data are being transferred there might be some risks associated with it because the data might be accessed by a third party intentionally or accidentally in any case the patient data might fall in the wrong hands.

Although technology has helped doctors to be able to monitor their patients conditions even when they are not physically together like during the covid-19, it has resulted to a lack of empathy towards the patient especially the elderly ones as relying only on technology causes confusion and frustration most times.

Conclusion

We can see that technology has really helped us in the medical field but it still has some disadvantages. All we have to do is to live a balanced life and not let the digital world take over our real self.
