A bedtime story: Greedy village |
---|
Childhood became a lot of fun, especially for kids in the 80s and 90s where entertainment was the stories and games told to them by the adults in their families. Being a '90s kid, I've had a chance to hear a lot of stories.
The elders in my family especially my grandmother, grandfather, father, mother, great-grandfather, and great-grandmother, have told many stories. Similarly, the teachers told many stories in the classes in the school.
Since this contest is Bedtime Story I would like to share a story told by my grandmother here.
In the village where HONARABLE Raman lived there was a rich man named Soman. He is very wicked and greedy for money. Once Soman sold the coconuts grown in his garden in the market and lost his wallet while returning home in his bullock cart with ten thousand rupees. When he got home, he looked for his wallet in the cart and missed that he couldn't find it. He woke up not knowing what to do.
Then his wife said, "Tell those who find your wallet and give them a suitable reward, surely someone will bring it."
Awesome! Thinking that this was a good project, he made an announcement to the whole town the next day. The townspeople also thought that if they got the wallet, they could give it and get the reward.
No one found the wallet after searching.
At that time a passer-by named Bhubalan came through that town. Very good-natured. He is loved to live honorably even if he is poor. He helps others as much as he can.
As he came he saw something stuck on his leg by the side of the path, it was a bag. There was a lot of money in it. As soon as he took it, it was a pity for Bhubalan that someone had left his wallet behind.
He rushed to the town to find it and give it to him.
When he went into the town, he inquired about the shop there. The shopkeeper told him about Soman and said that he was the lost one if you gave this, he would surely reward you.
Immediately Bhupalan also searched Soman's house and told him the details of finding the wallet, Soman could not bear his happiness. He immediately took the wallet and at the same time, his bad intentions began to emerge. Soman thought that the wallet had been found, and the money was correct, so why should I give him the reward now, what can be done to escape without giving the reward?
Soman with a bad heart shouted at Bhubalan "You are trying to cheat me, I also had a diamond ring in my bag, it is missing, please give it to me, I will not leave you alone".
Bhubalan didn't understand anything, he thought that maybe the diamond ring got lost As he said, we didn't take it, we can avoid the problem rather than get a gift from him. Soman shouted with anger. The matter was taken up with the Honorable Raman.
They told a fake story of Soman losing the wallet and the diamond ring in it and Poopalan finding the wallet.
HONORABLE Raman knew about the announcement already announced by Soman, but it was known that he did not say anything about the Diamond ring while making the announcement.
So HONORABLE Raman, who understood that Soman was cheating, thought to give Soman the right punishment and gave the judgment like this “He himself said that Soman had lost money and a diamond ring in his bag.
Now the bag brought by Bhupalan has only money in it, so it is not Soman's bag but someone else's lost bag. As long as no one complains, as long as no one complains, 10% of the money received can be given to the Amman temple and the rest can be kept by the person who took it so that Poopalan can keep that money for his own use. Soman himself will give the reward as soon as he finds the bag containing Soman's money and diamond ring. The council may be dissolved”.
When Honorable Raman pronounced the verdict, Soman's heart seemed to stop. He regretted that his evil character had caused harm to himself. Soman felt Guilty and accepted the truth from Raman and apologized to the assembled townspeople.
He gave half of the money he got as a gift to Bhubalan took the rest and moved towards home. Bhupalan also went to the village with the joy of receiving the gift. The people greatly appreciated HONARABLE Rama's wise judgment.
