SEC - S12W1: A Bedtime Story ~ "The Tortoise And The Lion"

Once upon a time, there was a great famine in the animal kingdom. The famine was so severe and it lasted longer than expected, all the sources of existing food were completely exhausted. Animals were worried, they knew that they had to do something before they died off One by one.

The tortoise and the lion were good friends, One day the tortoise visited the lion, and they were so hungry! The tortoise told the lion that he had an idea of what to do to survive. The lion was curious so he asked the Tortoise what to do, the tortoise told the lion that they should kill their older mother and eat, instead of them to die of hunger. The lion didn't welcome the idea at first, he flamed off with anger.

Days passed by and the famine went from bad to worse so the lion reconsidered what the tortoise told him. He called his friend and asked how they would go about it, and they decided to eat the lion's mother first.

When it was tortoise time, he told the lion that his mother's skin was so strong, that he should give him days to cook her properly so that they could enjoy the meat. He went and hid his mother on the mountaintop. He then cooked bark and added so many spices and seasonings to the bark and it was very tasty and savoury! The lion was busy praising the meat and soup of Tortoise's mother without suspecting anything. The tortoise was glad that he deceived the lion.

Days passed by, and the tortoise usually sneaked out to the spot where he hid his mother to give her food to ensure her existence. He normally sings for his mother to drop a rope for him.

One day the lion was passing by, and he found the tortoise, so he hid and observed what was going on, he heard the song the tortoise was singing:

"My beloved mother drop, drop the rope for me (X2)
Foolish lion killed his Mother for us to eat,
When it was my turn we ate b -a-r-k!
Please drop the rope for me Beloved!

Then he saw a rope dropping from the mountain 🗻 which the tortoise climbed to the top. The lion was so furious and he felt betrayed that his best friend tricked him into killing his mother. So he decided to revenge!

The following day the lion went to the spot and disguised his voice like the tortoise he sang the song he heard the tortoise sing the day before, a rope was dropped from the mountaintop so the lion climbed the rope and killed the tortoise's Mom. The tortoise later came and sang, and the lion dropped the rope for him but when he climbed to a certain point he used scissors and cut the rope sending the tortoise crashing onto the ground.

The tortoise shell breaks into many pieces and he manages to glue the pieces of the shell together that's how he ended up with the rough shell we know today.

Lessons:

• Greed, and desperation are bad.
• We should develop the thinking ability to distinguish right from wrong.
• Betrayal is bad.
