Aterriza en la gran manzana / Lans in the big apple | ESP-ENG
UNA FIRMA INESPERADA / AN UNEXPECTED SIGNATURE
In the dead season in Major League Baseball, which means the end of November and December, different teams go to the winter market in search of those pieces that are desirable, these are the free agents who have left their former teams, in search of new airs in their careers, with destinations to other teams, they are very prominent players who at the time of declaring themselves free agents increase their value and are the most sought after.
ATERRIZA EN LA GRAN MANZANA / LANDS IN THE BIG APPLE
Such is the case of the Puerto Rican player Carlos Correa that once it was known about his free agent status, many teams went in search of his services, and it is that he was one of the most desirable players in terms of his age and conditions, because his talent is already proven, also coming from a good season with the Minnesota Twins who surprisingly let go the Puerto Rican star.
His signing last season with Minnesota was for several years, which implied that he would stay there for a long time, but an agreement between both parties caused the contract to be terminated in just one season of service, causing free agency and the player's desire to leave this ninth.
The interested parties and in a very categorical way were the San Francisco Giants, who with a mega contract of up to 360 million dollars, wanted to acquire Correa's services for the remainder of his professional career, which implied being in the Bay Area for 13 seasons, ensuring his future, but an unexpected turnaround in his signature with the team of the "West" division changed everything to go to New York.
Everything lies in the results of physical examinations, where it was determined that Correa, had an anomaly in his body, which meant for the Giants team a risk to sign him, not least a juicy contract of 360 could be a lot of money for a piece that seemed very valuable but in the end for them it was not a good idea to give him such a benefit that would suffer constant injuries meaning for these many losses for 13 seasons.
All this apparently was being followed by the people of the New York Mets who unexpectedly took the Puerto Rican player, offering him a contract similar to that of the Giants, but ...? they did well ...? or they acted desperately ...? I think they did well but they offered him a lot of money after having discovered what they discovered.
Sources say that Correa underwent ankle surgery at the age of 19, which is a risk, so the Puerto Rican star in the future could resort back to that injury and that in turn, would entail another operation and loss of time and money, something that could have been avoided, the Giants did well but the Mets have decided to trust and risk and build their ranks with an already proven talent in the big leagues.
TALENTO COMPROBADO / PROVEN TALENT
No doubt the Mets went for the option that is a proven player in the big leagues, world champion in 2017 with the Astros, several seasons over 300 points are of great value, Correa is a player who brings a lot to both the defense and with the bat, and this will be of great help to the big apple to face a new season and the old rivalry with the Atlanta Braves.
They took a risk that hopefully everything goes well, if we look at it, that was a long time ago, more than a decade to be exact, and I think that will not affect the future, because the player has already gone through several intense environments in the big leagues and has proven to have the talent and the necessary health, let's wait to see how the Mets team will benefit and what San Francisco missed by taking the decision of not signing him when they already had everything ready to do so.

Hi, @fdux
