Independence Day: India

in RECREATIVE STEEMlast year (edited)
I agree with @graceleon that we all love to live in a country that is free from slavery even if we were ruled by foreigners in the past. I was not born when we got independence but we hear so much from our previous generation including my father how we fought and won our freedom.

We had to give a number of sacrifices to what we proudly say that we are an independent country. And not only that but we are the largest democracy in the world with a population of 1.4 billion and stepping forward to become the 3rd largest economy in the world.

Independence has given us an opportunity to prove ourselves. Now India has the largest middle-income group in the world consisting of 700 million people, and the largest number of engineers, doctors, and scientists from India working in different countries all over the world (I am one of them).

I hereby invite my three friends, @senehasa @weisser-rabe @saintkelvin17 and @jyoti-thelight to participate in

Contest: Independence Day and answer these questions.

▶️ What does independence mean to you?

Freedom means when a country is a sovereign state, or free from obeying the orders of other countries. Its citizens enjoy freedom in that country, which is accepted by society, and the state provides protection by giving recognition as equal to everyone.

Freedom refers to those rights and privileges that the state generates and protects for its citizens. Freedom means participation in every work and opportunity of the state and political system for a citizen. It is the freedom under which every citizen has the right to vote, participate in elections, and be appointed to public office.

Freedom means that the economic level of a person should be such that he can live a life of himself and his family with self-respect and without facing financial challenges, with equal economic security.

Freedom means every citizen is free to believe in and follow his religion, faith, and conduct. Freedom is how a citizen practices religious rituals, customs, methods of worship, the formation of institutions, and the propagation of religion. It means every person has the same rights without any obligation or binding.

▶️ Do you live in a free and sovereign country? Or are you searching for emancipation?

Yes, we are citizens of a free country India that became independent on 15 August 1947. India has completed 76 years of independence. Every year on August 15, the country celebrates its Independence Day. It is a day to remember those brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to free the country from British rule for 200 years.

"Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed." - Martin Luther King Jr.

The British ruled India for a long time and kept Indians as their slaves. In the year 1857, Indians started a huge revolution against British rule, which later proved to be very decisive. Since then, every year on the 15th of August, the country celebrates this auspicious festival of independence.

We live in a free and independent country which has a population of 1.4 billion and is considered the largest democracy in the world.

▶️ Of the existing forms of government; Which one do you identify with and why? (Republics)

India follows the parliamentary form of government both at the center and in the states. The parliamentary system in India is also known as the popular government responsible to Indian citizens, also called the prime ministerial government, where the head of the political administration is the Prime Minister.

In India, we have hundreds of recognized and unrecognized parties, including one-man parties, but they all have to get their mandate through the ballot box. There is a general election every five years, and the Political party which gets the most votes forms the government. The President, elected by members of both houses of parliament, appoints the leader of the largest party as Prime Minister. The Prime Minister appoints other ministers who collectively run the government.

All our rules are proposed and made in parliament, where the opposition parties have a right to oppose them, but the final verdict comes through a majority vote. The leader of the opposition has a role to play, and he has enough powers as given to him under the rule of the Indian constitution. A bill passed in both houses of parliament then goes to the President for his final approval.

▶️ If your country is free and independent, tell us a little about the way Independence Day is celebrated.

In India, Independence Day, August 15, is the date on which India got complete independence. In fact, most countries in the world have been slaves of other communities or countries at one point in time or another, and in such a situation, the day they got independence, they celebrated as Independence Day.

As I told you that Indians live all over the world so they celebrate it everywhere and the local governments support us in doing that. Here is a short YouTube video that will give you an idea of how our tricolor fly everywhere-

August 15, 1947, was the day on which the first Prime Minister of India hoisted the national flag of India from the Red Fort in the Indian Capital, Delhi. He addressed the entire country. There was an atmosphere of patriotism all over the country on the 15th of August 1947 because we saw that day after a lot of struggle that we got our freedom from British rule.

Like every festival, everyone celebrates Independence Day in their own way. Those who are not able to attend any program at school, college, or any other institution, also fulfill their duty through social media by remembering the revolutionaries of the country and watching the cultural programs related to Independence Day. There is an atmosphere of joy and patriotism in every citizen's heart and mind.

If we talk about schools and colleges, then Independence Day is celebrated at different levels in these places. On this day, dances to patriotic songs, speeches related to the country, and plays full of patriotism are organized in schools and colleges. It not only creates respect for the country in the hearts of the citizens but also awakens a feeling of patriotism in other people who come there.

▶️Share a famous phrase from your country that evokes Independence.

We have many phrases, but the one I like the most is

"We will sacrifice our lives but never let go of our freedom,"

The second one is we consider the whole world as one family. Therefore, when a family member is in trouble, it is India's duty to help him.

We believe in "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," which means the whole world is one family, and when a member of the family is in trouble, it is India's duty to help him. If you about the fact that recently India supplied COVID-19 vaccines to various countries free of charge.

Hi @dove11
Definitely India is now a free and indepey country, after so many years of struggles, I have read a bit about our libertarian history and how the sacrifice of the brave people gave them sovereignty against the giant British army in 1947.
Now India is an economy that is getting stronger every day and they are aiming to become a great world power.
I like the philosophy of helping others, seeing us all as brothers and that ability to celebrate the independence of the Nation wherever they are, because the sense of belonging is evident and wonderful.
God bless India and make it more prosperous every day and committed to the growth of the poor, the needy, to continue to bring holistic growth to the whole world.

The best computer engineers, computer scientists and programmers in the world are from India.
God gave them great intelligence to your Nation.

Thank you so much for saying so but let me add that every developed country in the world depends on Indian doctors that manage their medical facilities. I am proud to be one managing an entire different field on behalf of my company. Thanks once again.
