The feast of sacrifice

Every year in the month of Dzulhijah, it is sunnah for Muslims throughout the world to slaughter sacrificial animals. Today, Monday 17/06/2024, is a day of victory for the Muslim community worldwide. This day is also the first day of sacrifice, the last sacrifice falls on Wednesday. Livestock that can be used as sacrifices on Eid al-Adha and Tasyrik days (11-13 Dzulhijah) include camels, cows, goats and sheep.

Sacrifice is an act of worship commanded by Allah SWT. Carrying out sacrificial worship is a form of piety as a servant.

Many verses in the Qur'an explain the command for sacrifice. One of them is in the Al-Kautsar letter. Allah SWT says,

فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ

Meaning: "So pray to your Lord and slaughter the sacrificial animal." (QS al-Kautsar verse 2)

Apart from getting closer to Allah SWT, slaughtering sacrificial animals is also a social act of worship towards others. People who sacrifice can share their sacrificial meat with relatives, neighbors, and don't forget the poor.

Did you know, the implementation of the sacrificial service cannot be separated from the story of Prophet Ibrahim AS who was ordered by Allah SWT to slaughter his own son, Prophet Ismail AS. This story is immortalized in the Koran.

These are the cows that we want to make sacrifices for later, after they have all been slaughtered the meat is distributed to the needy and needy, at my place there are seven cows. Tomorrow, on the second day of sacrifice, there is a report from the sacrificial committee that they have 50 cows sent directly by the Turkish government. However, the cows have not yet arrived, they say they are still on their way to the Aceh/Indonesia region.
